On August 25, 2026, MARYSSA RENEE CONTRERAS, 34, of El Paso and formerly of Las Cruces, entered eternal rest at Memorial Providence Hospital in El Paso. While her absence leaves an immeasurable ache in the hearts of those who loved her, her faith, love, and precious memory will continue to shine brightly in our lives

Maryssa was born to Carrie Thompson and Luis Medina in Hemet, California on June 15, 1992. She aspired to become a lawyer one day and was pursuing that path as she worked as a legal clerk with Court Systems.

She was a wonderful friend to many, a gifted cheer and dance coach who inspired countless young people with her passion, encouragement, and unwavering belief in them. As a sister, cousin, daughter, and friend, she brought joy, laughter, and love to her family, always making those around her feel valued and cared for.

Maryssa was a devoted wife who cherished her family with all her heart, but above all, she was an extraordinary mother whose sacrifice, and dedication shaped the lives of her children every day. Being a mother was a role she embraced with her whole heart. Her love for her children was evident in everything she did, their biggest supporter, their protector, their teacher, and their source of unconditional love. Her dedication to them was truly remarkable. Her kindness, strength, and selfless love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, especially in her beloved nieces, Meleah and Lexani, and her nephews, Andres and Andrew, who were blessed by her love, guidance, and beautiful spirit.

She is survived by her husband Nathan Contreras, her two boys, Mario Alfredo and Macario Cruz Vega Contreras, her baby girl Kamyrn Marie Contreras and her littlest baby; Ayla Sallyne Contreras who was the last to feel the warmth and presence of Maryssa’s heartbeat.

Other survivors include her mother, Carrie Thompson; her sister, Cecilia Bolanos; brother, Ruben Bolanos (Alaina Perez); her aunts, Amy Thompson and Cindi Robles; uncle, Albert Robles; cousins, Vincent, Aaron, and Patrick; her siblings in California are Joselyn, Katelyn, Elena, Deanna, Desiree, Breana and Louis Medina as well as her parents-in-law, Edward and Maria Contreras, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Corbeil and Javier Martinez of El Paso.

Maryssa is preceded in death by her maternal great-grandmother, Sally Ortega Dansak, her grandparents Alice Ortega Thompson and David Reule Thompson, and brother Andrew David Bolanos.

Services for Maryssa are scheduled to take place on Wednesday September 9, 2026, at Las Cruces First, 5605 Bataan Memorial West. Visitation will begin at 1 PM and the funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Pastor Gabby Perez, officiating. Cremation will follow.

Casket Bearers will be Nathan Contreras, Ruben Alex Bolanos, Aaron Thompson Patrick Gonzalez and Vincent White, Robert Corbeil and Javier Martinez.

Maryssa’s life was a beautiful reflection of love and devotion, and though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in God’s promises… “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
