Mary Ann Montañez, at the age of 80 years old of Hatch, New Mexico passed away Monday October 9, 2023. Mary passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on January 19, 1943, to Jose Angel and Clara Saenz Mendoza in Garfield, New Mexico. She was wed to her loving husband of 25 years, Jesus Montañez. Mary was a parishioner of San Isidro Catholic Parish. She was raised in a loving family amongst 10 siblings. She was always willing to help her sisters with cooking and having a warm meal ready for her father and brothers at the end of a hard workday. Her passion was always cooking and baking, which helped with feeding students at Hatch Valley Public Schools (5+ years), family gatherings and all company that visited. Mary had a fashionable appearance, well done make-up and hair for all occasions where she enjoyed laughing, dancing, and sharing childhood stories. She will be remembered for her distinct laugh and being happy and positive.  Without a doubt, Mary's favorite hobby was reminiscing about her many siblings and loving parents. Mary's heart never fell short of love and compassion towards family and friends.

Mary Ann Montañez is survived by Adolfo Mendoza (Maria); Manuel Mendoza (Yolanda); Oscar Mendoza (Stella); Hector Mendoza; Estella Chavez (Octavio); Rosemary Ortiz (Albert). And numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mary is proceeded in death by her husband Jesus Montañez, parents Jose Angel and Clara Saenz Mendoza, sister Domitila Solis, brothers Michael Mendoza and Jose Mendoza.

Services for Mary Ann Montañez will be Saturday, October 21, 2023; Rosary at 10:00 am with the Funeral Mass to follow, at San Isidoro Parish in Garfield, New Mexico. Mary Ann Montañez will be laid to rest in Garfield Cemetery.
