Mary Danner McCarty, age 95, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on March 25, 2026. Born on September 7, 1930, in Albany, New York, Mary was the eldest of thirteen children, a role that shaped her into the devoted, nurturing woman her family would come to cherish for nearly a century.
Mary married the love of her life, Thomas A. McCarty, and together they celebrated a remarkable seventy-four years of marriage, a testament to their enduring devotion and unwavering commitment to one another. Their union was blessed with five healthy children, and Mary embraced motherhood with the same grace and strength that defined every aspect of her life. As the oldest of thirteen siblings, she understood from an early age the meaning of family, sacrifice, and unconditional love, qualities she carried with her throughout her years.
Mary made her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she was a beloved presence in her community and a steadfast pillar of her family. Her life was marked by quiet dignity, generosity, and an abiding faith that guided her through all seasons.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas A. McCarty; her five children; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday April 27, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 North Miranda Street, with Father Richard Catanach officiating.
