MARIA CHAVARRIA SALCEDO, age 96, of La Mesa, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born September 12, 1927 in Blythe, California to Rosa Ponce and Isidro Chavarria.

Survivors include a son, Isidro Chavarria of Doña Ana; daughters, Esther Buerger of Victoria, TX, and Elizabeth Darrow of Santa Fe; two brothers, Daniel Chavarria of California, and Ruben Chavarria of San Miguel; sister, Martha Chaves of Fabens, TX. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hermilo Salcedo on April 19, 2010; a son; a daughter; a sister and a granddaughter.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM Friday, January 5, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Serving as casket bearers will be Lonnie Buerger, Raul Salcedo, Michael Salcedo, Hector Chavez, Hilberto Chavez, and Ernesto Ontiveros.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Word of Light Ministry, 2010 Yale Court, Las Cruces, NM  88005 in memory of Maria.
