Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, tia, and friend, Maria Jesus "Mary" Rodriguez of Mesilla, New Mexico, was 79 years old when she entered eternal life on July 14, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 26, 1943, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Simon and Eleuteria Hernandez. Mary was a homemaker and devoted member of the Catholic Church. She sang in the choir, helped in church functions, and was known for her empanadas. There was always music in her home, and Mary loved to dance. Mary helped raise her grandkids and great grandkids. She was an excellent cook, baker, and was known for her bright wardrobe.

Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Pascual O. Rodriguez; two sons, Ronnie H. Rodriguez (Mayra), Pascual H. Rodriguez Jr. (Domonique); and daughter, Nora R. Munoz (Daniel); 12 grandkids; 10 great-grandkids; and one great-grandkid on the way. She is also survived by two sisters, Reina Orona and Paula Castro; a brother, Junior Hernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Eleuteria C. Hernandez; sister, Enedina Luna; and three brother in-laws.

Pallbearers are Gabriel Rodriguez, Ronnie Rodriguez Jr., Angel A. Rodriguez, Pascual A. Rodriguez, Daniel Munoz Jr., and Erik A. Romo.

A special thank you for the compassion and love of the nurses at Mesilla Valley Hospice, especially DeShawn, Amy, Desiree, Angela, Erica, Prisma, and Jessica. A special thanks to the ladies that came and prayed a weekly rosary with Mary.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023, starting at 6pm at the Basilica of San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal. A prayer vigil will follow at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held the next day on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, starting at 11am at the Basilica of San Albino. Maria will be laid to rest at San Albino Cemetery.
