Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Maria Del Refugio Bermudez on February 1, 2025. She was born July 2, 1947 in Colonia Soto, Chihuahua, MX to Socorro and Perfecto Vargas.

We are deeply saddened, our hearts hurt, we have lost our world. Our mom was the one person who connected us all. Our mom was such a strong woman that always made sure we had everything we needed. We will always remember her sweet "cariños" she had for each of us. As our family grew, she loved to see us become parents, grandparents. Those who had a chance to meet her were always welcomed by a hug and a kiss. We are going to miss her cooking, her sweet smile, and most of all her calls to see how we were doing. God blessed us for so many years with her presence, she worried when we had a slight cough, a headache. We tried not to let her know if we were ill, but she always found a way to know and to remind us of what to take. We will miss calling her and hearing how her day went, to hear our voice gave her life. These last few years were very difficult for her, she had a hole in her heart when we lost our sister Socorro. Our mother would have taken her place a thousand times. In her heart there was a pain that would never heal after saying goodbye to Socorro. Our sisters' passing has been hard for all of us, our mother worried about her family even more. She always needed to make sure we were all doing good. She loved all her grandchildren, seeing them brought so much joy to her. When we had family gathering, they always requested her "maminis spaghetti", her beans, both such simple dishes, yet loved by them. Our journey with our mom was a beautiful one we will never forget. She was proud of us, she always made sure we were good to one another. Madre we will continue your journey here on earth making sure that the family you left loves and stays together as you loved to see us. The day you left to be with our lord, we surrounded you in unity and love. Our goal is to be like you, so that someday we will all be together to see you once again! We can see our sister Socorro being there to welcome you, we know you are not alone. You gave us all our first breath, and we were blessed to feel your last. Vaya con Dios, nuestra madre querida!

Those left to mourn her include her beloved husband Manuel Bermudez, Sons Manuel Bermudez, Cesar Bermudez, Gerardo Bermudez. Daughters Sylvia Ramirez and Alma Bermudez.
