With hearts full of love and gratitude, the family of MARIA GARCIA OLIVAS, age 80, of Las Cruces, announces her peaceful passing into eternal life on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born October 5, 1945, in Valle del Rosario, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Maria Guzman and Epigmenio Garcia, Maria lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. A devoted homemaker and faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church, she embodied compassion, humility, and unwavering love.

Maria's legacy lives on through her eight beloved children: daughters Berta Marmolejo (Rafael), Rosa Munoz (Armando), and Nydia Olivas; and sons Nicolas Olivas, Horacio Olivas (Margarita), Carlos Olivas, Andres Olivas, and Leonel Olivas (Concepcion), all from Las Cruces. She was a cherished grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Rigoberto Garcia (Elva) of California, and her sister, Delia Garcia of Chihuahua, Mexico.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Eleazar Olivas, who passed in 2022, along with other dear family members. Though her absence leaves a deep void, her memory will continue to guide and comfort those who knew her.

Visitation will begin at 6 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, followed by a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 PM. The Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated thereafter. Cremation will take place, and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Maria's life was a testament to enduring love, quiet faith, and the strength of family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
