MARIA CONCEPCION MELENDEZ, of Fairacres, NM., passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and caregiver on Thursday, September 19, 2024. "Conchita," as she was fondly known to family and friends was born in Socorro, TX., to Jose and Refugio Trujillo.  She married Raul E. Melendez in 1955; together they raised 7 children. She devoted her life to her family, enjoyed gardening and cooking imbuing her work with song and joy. Through her mothering nature she nurtured physically, emotionally, and spiritually, providing a loving home to all who entered it. Conchita was a devout Catholic who lived her faith by example and virtue. Those who encountered her were immediately at ease with her light and love.

Conchita is survived by her 7 children: 4 sons and 3 daughters. Other survivors included 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Conchita will be held from 9 AM to 11 AM Friday, October 4, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 Boutz Road. The Prayer Vigil will begin at 11:30 AM at the Basilica de San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter.
