It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of MARIA CARMELA CHAVEZ, age 64, lifelong resident of Las Cruces on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 20, 1960, to Francisca Trejo and Manuel Gonzalez Chavez.

Maria is survived by her only daughter, Stacy Chavez; her lifelong companion, Mario Astorga; as well as 4 grandchildren; Venus Chavez, Monique, David, and Herberto Monares, all from Las Cruces. 4 sisters and 2 brothers Maria was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Jonathan Chavez; 2 brothers, George, and Ruben Chavez, and 1 cousin Chrispen Trejo.

At her request cremation will take place and no services are scheduled at this time.
