Our beloved mother, grandmother, tia, and friend, Margarita Duran Telles, entered eternal life on Monday, March 4, 2024. She was 96 years of age. Maggie, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on February 9, 1928, in Las Cruces, NM, to Francisco and Justina Duran.
In 1947, she married the love of her life, Eulalio Garcia Telles. They made their home in Las Cruces along with their 5 children, Edward, Gloria, Freddie, Henry, and Betty. Throughout her life, Margarita enjoyed arts and crafts. She loved to crochet and make ceramics, and she made decorations for many people's special occasions. Her beautiful creations were shared with her sisters, grandkids, and anyone that took appreciation to her art.
She also loved to cook, and she was known for her amazing food. One of her specialties was her homemade biscochos. She always greeted visitors with something to eat, especially her homemade tortillas and chile. Chiles rellenos, carne adobada, sopapillas, and empanadas were some of the foods that she loved sharing with loved ones. The pineapple upside down cake was one of her husband's favorites!
She also took joy in making people laugh and smile with her great sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing and being the life of the party while sharing great times with the compadres and the comadres as everyone rejoiced spending valuable time with one another. One of the special moments she shared with Eulalio was going on car cruises as they made pit stops at her relatives' houses for some quick banter as they traveled through many areas far and wide.
Those left to mourn her include her children Gloria Apodaca, Freddie Telles, Henry Telles, and Betty Galvan. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Margarita was preceded in death by her parents, Justina and Francisco, her beloved husband, Eulalio Telles, son Edward Telles, grandson Edward Telles Jr., siblings Maria Serna, Angelita Rendon, Merced Barreras, Esther Lovato, Ramon Duran, Fernando Duran, Pete Carter, Josefina Duran and Delfina Espinosa.
