It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and son, MARCOS NAÑEZ, 41, of Las Cruces, New Mexico on Monday, January 15, 2024. His loss was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.

Marcos was born December 11, 1982, to Rowena Pecos in Eagle Pass, Texas. He grew up with 3 brothers, Junior, Eddie, and Andy and extended family. After high school, he moved to San Antonio, Texas to pursue work and obtained an accounting associate degree from Hallmark Institute. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Las Cruces, to be with his future wife, Danielle Saenz. He attended New Mexico State University and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. For 15 years, he worked at White Sands Missile Range including as a budget analyst supervisor for the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Saenz-Nañez, of 22 years and their children, Danya (12) and Marco (7) Nañez. Additionally, all of in-laws in Las Cruces: Daniel, RoseMary, Matthew & wife, Danis. Also, his 3 brothers in other states: Junior and his wife, Aurora; Eddie and his partner, David; and Andy. Finally, a large extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles across several states. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rowena Pecos, and grandmothers, Olga Pecos, and Esperanza Nañez.

Marcos' joy was spending his time being a great father and best husband as he could be. This included him practicing softball with his daughter, Danya, and attending all her practices and games. It was his dream to see his daughter play on the field and achieve all her goals. He also loved playing video games, building Legos, and drawing with his son, Marco. He loved surprising his wife and children by planning and taking them on adventurous vacations. Marcos loved snowboarding, mountain biking and playing with his beloved pet dog, Bruno. Anyone who knew Marcos knew that he was a quiet guy who was always kind, loving, caring and would do anything for his family. He had an immense passion for sports and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and the Texas Rangers.

In dedication to Marcos, Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Prayer Vigil will begin at 11 AM at the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Christopher Williams, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the San Albino Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
