Manuel "Meño" Madrid, Sr., 84, of Vado, New Mexico, passed away December 1, 2023, at Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Manuel was born October 17, 1939, in Anthony, New Mexico, to Maria Esequiel "Chata" Madrid. Prior to Manuel's retirement, he was a dedicated owner of Madrid's Chevron which he proudly operated as a full-service gas station. Manuel had a strong work ethic. He undoubtedly touched many lives through his love, kindness, and generosity. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends in need. Manuel was athletic, running track in high school and later playing softball within community leagues. He enjoyed outdoor activities, often taking his family on camping, hunting, and fishing trips. Other hobbies included drawing and wood carving.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alicia; his sons Manuel Madrid, Jr. (Stephanie) of Vail, AZ; Henry Madrid (Yosmely) of Las Cruces, NM; daughters Deborah Branham (James) of San Diego, CA; Elizabeth Madrid Alvarez of Vado, NM; sisters Hortencia Grunska of Anthony, NM; Angelina Sanchez (Rudy) of Anthony, NM; Maria Celsa Madrid of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Debbie Arboleda (William); Jimmy Branham (Mairene); Aaron Madrid (Bianca); Manny Madrid III; Andreana Diaz (Alejandro); Manuel Madrid; great-grandchildren Bella Madrid, Aaron Diaz, Braxton Branham, Leovani Branham, Atlas Pobur, Apollo Pobur, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Esequiel "Chata" Madrid; son, Mario Madrid; sisters, Maria Laura "Lala" Madrid Villines; Anadina "Nina" Madrid Johns; and brother, Jesus "Chuy" B. Madrid.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Baca's, with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church, 353 Josephine St., La Mesa, NM. Inurnment will take place privately at a later date.

Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons Aaron Madrid, Manny Madrid, Jimmy Branham, Manuel Madrid, Alejandro Diaz, and nephew Rudy Sanchez Jr. Family and friends are welcome to join the family to celebrate Manuel at the San Jose Catholic Church Hall following the funeral mass from 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
