Manuel Gutierrez, 79, of Las Cruces, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026. Born October 17, 1946, in Deming, New Mexico, Manuel was the beloved son of Felicitas and Roberto Gutierrez. A dedicated schoolteacher, he spent his life shaping young minds with patience, humor, and a deep belief in the power of education. His gentle guidance and steady presence left a lasting mark on countless students and colleagues.

Manuel is survived by his son Fernando Carreon; daughters Mary Alice Guzman and Norma Romero; brothers Arturo Gutierrez and Joe Gutierrez; and sisters Guadalupe Marquez, Felicitas Baca, and Carolina WallingFord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Romelia, his son Mark Anthony Gutierrez, and his brother Robert Gutierrez.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. A graveside committal and Military Honors will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Manuel will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to family, and his unwavering commitment to teaching. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched with compassion and quiet strength.
