Malachi Kinney DeLanoy entered the world on November 18, 2008 the same way he lived the majority of his life - in a rush, in a hurry to see what was coming causing him to spend the first three and a half weeks in NICU. Unfortunately, he left the world August 19, 2023 in the same way, impulsively, and in a big hurry.

Malachi was born "late in life" to Grant and Cindy (Kuykendall) DeLanoy. He was the Irish twin to his brother Michael (Milagro) DeLanoy, and the baby brother to Seth, Daniel, and Noah DeLanoy and Scott Morgan and Kevin Klaff.  Malachi was a joyous baby who smiled and laughed - but also had a serious side when the need arose. As a toddler, nothing made him happier than making those around him laugh and smile.

School started, and Malachi excelled. He learned early that there very grave social injustices that he could not bear. Gender identies, females, other minorities - Malachi felt strongly that everyone had rights to be their authentic self, if they weren't hurting anyone - not in hurting someone's "religious feelings"...He meant REAL feelings. HUMAN feelings. HEART feelings. When he was 8, his choice for Christmas presents was to give packages to the homeless insterad of something for himself - for, you see, as he told mommy, "All my needs are met, and so are most of my wants. I want to help those who don't even have their NEEDS met".

The pandemic happened, and our once bubbly boy began to retreat. It's not uncommon - it's a known phenomenom world-wide. Our city was not ready for the crushing need for mental health for our youths, and despite over a year of trying to get help for our boys, our calls went unheard. Wait lists never moved forward, and a therapist never came available to him. He did find some joy at Alma d' Arte, especially with Mrs. Zerr and Ms. Meyers. He loved his ceramics and his garden work, and he loved the teachers who taught him gently, the way he learned best.

Malachi was loved by his family deeply, and he loved them FIERCELY. He enjoyed playing with the family dogs, working in his budding garden, creating a bedroom full of life via plants and small critters, and simply spending time with family and friends, telling them often, "I love you!" He is survived by his parents Grant and Cindy DeLanoy, brothers Seth, Scott, Daniel, Kevin, Noah, and Michael,  his grandfather Jim Kuykendall, uncles Dan Kuykendall, Spence DeLanoy, and Mark DeLanoy, and numerous cousins. He is also survived by a host of friends who loved him like his family did - to the moon and back - if only he KNEW. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Karen Kuykendall, his paternal grandparents David and Audrey DeLanoy, a sister Amanda Klaff, and his Auntie Gia (Angela) Kuykendall and great grandparents Paul and Thelma Kuykendall and Bill and Ruth Kinney. Malachi will be missed by all who knew him.
