Obituary

LUSIANA "LUCY" GUERRA CISNEROZ, 89, of Mesilla Park, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the home of her daughter and son‑in‑law, where she spent the last years of her life surrounded by the family who loved her so dearly.

Born January 1, 1937, in Alamogordo to Martina Gonzalez and Catarino Guerra, Lucy was a New Year's blessing whose vibrant spirit carried her through a long and full life. She was lovingly known as "Lucy" by family and friends, and she lived up to the name—bright, warm, and unforgettable.

Lucy worked for many years as a bus driver for the Las Cruces Public Schools, caring for countless children with the same protective heart she showed her own family. A devout member of the Catholic Church, she was deeply proud to have served as queen twice in her lifetime—an honor that reflected her faith, her grace, and her strong presence in her community.

She came from a long line of strong‑willed, strong‑minded Guerra women, and she embodied that legacy fully. Lucy was feisty, brutally honest, and fiercely protective of those she loved. That fire, paired with her humor and resilience, kept her healthy and strong for 89 remarkable years.

In 1969, Lucy married the love of her life, Ernesto "Neto" Cisneroz. Together they shared 42 beautiful years until his passing in 2011. After fifteen years apart, she is now reunited with her Corazón.

Lucy will be remembered for her incredible cooking, her love for family gatherings, and the simple joys that filled her day's coffee, fishing, camping, playing cards, throwing huachas, softball, crocheting, music, and of course, her trips to the casino. She lived life with gusto, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the people around her.

Those left to mourn her passing include her only daughter, Loretta Valles (Juan) of Mesilla Park; her sons Cristobal Cisneroz (Geraldine), Juan Guerra Cisneroz (Lorena), and Valente Cisneroz, all from of Las Cruces; her brother Tito Guerra (Estela); and her sisters Catarina Butler and Emma Torres, all also from Las Cruces.

Her 17 grandchildren and 10 great‑grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy and peace. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ernesto "Neto" Cisneroz; and her loving brothers and sisters.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3600 Parroquia Street. The Prayer Vigil will follow at 10:00 AM, and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM with Reverend Ivan Torres, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, where Lucy will be laid to rest.

Serving as casket bearers will be Juan and Gabriel Valles, Dominic, Eugene, Geren and Joel Cisneroz. Honorary bearers are Joseph Trujillo, Angel Chavez, Marco Chairez, Gavin Chavez, Eriberto Santome and Josh Sullivan.

Lucy's legacy is one of strength, honesty, devotion, and love. Her family will carry her spirit forward in every gathering, every story, and every memory shared. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Neto.
