Luis D. Valenzuela, age 89, of Las Cruces, NM passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He entered eternal life on Saturday January 6, 2024 at Casa de Oro. He was born April 13, 1934 in Fierro, NM to Matias A. and Christina D. Valenzuela. Luis served honorably in the United States Army. He then went on to retire as an electrician at White Sands Missile Range. He loved singing and playing guitar with his family, he was also a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include one son David Luis Valenzuela Jr. of Las Cruces and one daughter Celia V. Medina also of Las Cruces, He also leaves three sisters Hortensia V. Alvarez (Manuel) of Deming, NM, Mary V. Granado of Deming, NM and Delia V. Chaires of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five grandchildren Adam Gabe Medina Jr., David Moses Valenzuela, Nicole Jimenez, Sergio Luis Valenzuela and Amanda (Gage) Fosler, as well as 12 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha P. Valenzuela, a granddaughter Stephanie Marie Medina, two brothers Emilio Valenzuela and Benito Valenzuela, two sisters Lila Valenzuela and Elvira V. Parra.

A prayer vigil will be held on Thursday February 8, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. and the Mass will follow. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
