LUIS PEREZ ESCALANTE, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Three Crosses Hospital in Las Cruces. He was born September 9, 1957, in Hatch, New Mexico, to Sara Perez and Luis Escalante. A hardworking and dedicated man, Luis was employed with Las Cruces Public Schools where he took great pride in his work and the school communities he served.

Luis leaves behind his loving companion, Linda Saenz; four sons, Russell Campos, Louie Escalante, Eric Gonzalez, and Jacob Escalante; two brothers, Gilbert Escalante (Jenny) and Edward Escalante (Marie); three sisters, Katie Vanegas (Larry), Matilda Escalante, and Christina Escalante; and his sister‑in‑law, Barbara Escalante. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Orlando Gonzalez, on March 17, 2026; and his brother, Jaime Escalante.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 3 PM Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, with The Liturgy of the Word to follow. Cremation will take place, and Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date.

Luis will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
