LORENZO A. APODACA, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born October 24, 1953, in Dona Ana to Rosa Avalos and Lorenzo Apodaca. After graduating from Mayfield High School. He began working security, completing 25 years at the Nevada Testing Site and 10 years at White Sands Missile Range. Lorenzo enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoors and was known for his love for his family, and his unending work ethic.

He married Mary Chavez in 1974, and together they shared 52 wonderful years with 4 sons Michael Lorenzo Apodaca of Chicago; Lorenzo Florentino Apodaca, and Leonardo Avelino Apodaca (Amber Marquez) all from Las Vegas, NV; and Matteo Lorenzo Apodaca (Hailey Vega) of Albuquerque; four brothers, Freddie, Ernesto, David, and Raymond; six sisters, Lupe, Rachel, Sally, Priscilla, Angie and Maggie; two grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Freddie Apodaca; two sisters, Rosemary Estrada and Christina Apodaca; his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Lorenzo’s memory is a keepsake from which we will never part.

At his request, cremation will take place and no services are scheduled at this time.
