In loving memory of Larry Everett Dawson, age 71, who peacefully passed away on February 4th, 2024.

Larry was born on September 2nd, 1952, in El Paso, TX, to Louis and Jeanne Dawson, Larry's early life was marked by summers spent farming in La Mesa, NM, alongside his father. He attended La Mesa and Putnam Elementary and Coronado High in El Paso before fully embracing farm life at the age of 17.

Larry was a skilled farmer, renowned for his creativity, innovative approach, and the best red chile meat in the valley. Beyond his profession, he was a friend to many, always offering a warm welcome with a smile. Larry, the rock of his family, filled their lives with love, kindness, and laughter, earning the affectionate titles of Papa, uncle, and compadre

Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Anita Dawson, and cherished daughters Melanie Dawson Sloan (Victor), Amanda Dawson Ochoa (Jesse), and Mary Madrid. He leaves a legacy through his siblings Debbie Dawson, Lindy Montes (Ralph), Silvia Haugen (Edmund), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Caitlyn Salopek (Daniel Aguirre), Wright and Dorothie Sloan, Marissa and Samantha Alvillar, Elsea and Jesse Jr. Ochoa; Great grandchildren Augustus and Darla Aguirre; Nieces and nephew Lucera Wilmeth (Cody), Jacqui Haugen (Lemuel Anderson) and Ronald Haugen (Roxann).

He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne Dawson, father Louis Dawson and his nephew, Jeremy Munoz.

While he may be physically gone, his warmth, jokes, and enduring love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Memorial services to celebrate Larry's life will be held at La Mesa United Methodist Church located at 703 San Jose Rd. La Mesa, 88044 on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Boggs officiating.

The family requests that those who wish to express their sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Larry's name in lieu of flowers.
