Obituary

KYLE W. GESSWEIN, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2024. Kyle was born in Newburgh, New York, to Warren F. and Florence Letitia Gesswein on April 17, 1941. He was their only child.

Kyle served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy where he both studied and later taught electronics. He received his law degree from the Rutgers School of Law in 1978 in New Jersey. Moving to Las Cruces, Kyle went to work for the Third Judicial District Attorney's Office. His continuing interest in electronics took him back to Spacecom at the NASA site for several years. Kyle returned to the practice of law assisting clients in banking and commercial transactions and was one of New Mexico's first board-certified civil trial specialists. He opened his own law office in 1998, specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice on behalf of plaintiffs. As a sole practitioner, Kyle frequently co-counseled with other attorneys all over the State of New Mexico as interests in water law became an important facet of his career. He retired in 2011. Retirement brought many new interests, including western dancing. He joined a radio club that he enjoyed.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine "Dena" Gesswein, and their four stepchildren and numerous grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon, and survived by her children, Chalice Young of Houston, TX., and Mark Warner of Oakland, CA.
