Obituary

Las Cruces – Kurt Allen Knox, 49, passed away on April 14, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Kimberly Williams Knox, and their four children, Kaiden, Kolton, Kennedy, and Kooper.

Kurt was born in Connecticut and grew up in Morris. He graduated from Wamago in 1995 and went on to attend New Mexico State University, where he earned both a BS and MS in Computational Electromagnetics and Electrical Engineering. Kurt built a successful and respected career as an RF Microwave Engineer, defense contractor, then a Senior Electromagnetics Project Engineer, contributing his expertise to highly specialized work. He was widely respected for his intelligence, professionalism, and creativity; and he built lasting friendships with colleagues across the country.

An active and devoted father, Kurt was deeply involved with his family and the outdoors. He loved hiking with his family, enjoying national parks on long road trips in the family RV. Kurt and Kim loved to ride road bikes together and were inseparable. Kurt designed and built his family home and outdoor areas using his love of nature and engineering to create one of a kind spaces. He enjoyed touring the US and traveling. Kurt lived each day with intention and appreciation, knowing everyday was precious, embracing life fully and inspiring those around him.

Kurt was the son of Maryanne Thulin and the late Richard Knox. Kurt is preceded in death by his father Richard, his stepfather Jon Thulin, and his brother in law, Bob Williams. He grew up surrounded by family and remained closely connected to his siblings, Sarah Lovell, Lisa Williams, Del Knox, and Chip Knox.

Above all, Kurt will be remembered for his love of family, his epic sense of humor and easy going attitude, and the way he showed up for others with kindness and authenticity.

A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends on May 9th. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family, and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Kimberly Knox PO Box 904, Dona Ana NM 88032 or by clicking https://gofund.me/b947fc4c4.
