Kenneth Ray Sholar, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of the community, passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 10, 1959, Ken spent his life committed to the well-being of others. He moved to North Carolina while young and was raised by his uncle and grandmother. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington and worked for several years in the south before accepting a job as the Vector Control supervisor for Doña Ana County. His efforts played a vital role in protecting public health and safety. Known for his quiet strength, integrity, and tireless work ethic, Ken earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and neighbors alike. He was a well known rock hound and loved teaching others about his hobby. He was always quick to give kids and friends beautiful specimens from his collection.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his Parents Maria and Evan Scholar.
A Funeral Service honoring Ken's life will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Bacas Funeral Chapel, located at 300 E. Boutz Road.
