JULIETTE "JULIE" V. HOLGUIN, age 74, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on the 28th day of June 2026 leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born on the 22nd day of September 1951, Julie lived a life defined by resilience, generosity, and a spirited, bubbly personality that made every space brighter.
Julie had a gift for showing up—fully, joyfully, and without hesitation. She loved people with her whole heart, and she expressed that love through action: steady, dependable, and present. She created a home where humor was welcome, music was encouraged, and everyone felt safe. Her family was her greatest pride, and she poured her energy into raising, supporting, and protecting them with everything she had.
Her personality was unmistakable. She had a laugh that made others laugh with her, even before they knew the joke. She carried a lightness that lifted heavy moments and a humor that reminded people not to take life too seriously. Whether she was teasing someone lovingly, cracking a joke at exactly the right time, or telling a story with animated flair, Julie made ordinary days feel special.
She enjoyed teaching, playing the guitar and singing at church, filling the room with a voice that was both joyful and comforting. Quilting was her quiet art—each piece stitched with patience, creativity, and care. She also devoted her time to volunteering with Quilts of Valor, showing her deep respect for service, sacrifice, and community. She truly enjoyed working with the schools and helping children in the ESL program for many years.
Throughout her life, Julie touched countless people with her kindness and her ability to make others feel seen. She brought calm into difficult moments, strength into uncertain ones, and joy into every day. Her memory will live on in the lessons she taught, the traditions she built, and the love she gave without hesitation.
She was preceded in death by her father Edwardo Torres and mother Annita Valles Torres.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ramon G. Holguin; her sons, Gabriel R. Holguin and Jesse O. Holguin; and her grandchildren, Damian R. Holguin, Xavier R. Holguin, and Vincent C. Holguin. She is also survived by her siblings Edward Torres, Carrie Flores, and Dorthy Arguello, along with many nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her by living with the same courage, compassion, humor, and integrity she embodied every day.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her influence endures—in her family, in her community, and in the hearts of all who loved her.
May Julie's laughter, her music, and her boundless love continue to echo into the lives of all who knew her, reminding us to live with the same joy, kindness, and light she brought into the world. We know her spirit will rest in the eternal peace of God's embrace, and may the love, joy, and light she shared continue to guide her family. As we remember her, may her faith remind us that she now walks in the presence of the Lord, whole, joyful, and surrounded by everlasting grace.
