Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, JULIETA CHACON LOPEZ, age, 89, entered enteral life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at her home. She was born July 6, 1935, in El Paso, TX to Consuelo Siañez and Enrique Chacon. Julieta was a Class of 1954 graduate of Bowie High School and attended NMSU and Doña Ana Community College. She was employed at White Sands Missile Range as a Personnel Staffing Specialist from December 1974 to May 1980, and was responsible for proving recruitment and placement services for assigned organizational elements which included all Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) employees, and all participants in the Youth Opportunity Program. Several jobs where clerical, accounting, and trade occupations.
Julieta received serval special awards, one being Outstanding Woman-Exceptional Leadership and Ability in planning and administrating the Presidents back to school and staying in school Youth Opportunity Program during September 1976 to November 1977.
Julieta was a very special lady, that will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include her three beautiful daughters, Deborah Eileen Deasy (Gabriel) and Barbara Lopez all from Las Cruces and Elma Flurry of California; her brother, Steven Lopez from Alabama. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Consuelo Chacon; her loving husband, Edward V. Lopez; daughter, Darlene J. Lucero; sister, Alicia Dominguez; brother, Henry Chacon and stepson, Raul Lopez.
Visitation will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Prayer Vigil at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street with The Reverend Alejando Reyes, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where he she will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tommy Lucero, Gabriel Rodriguez, Jaime Barela, Ruben Soto, Patrick Stewart, Jose Duarte, and Eddie Chavez. Honorary bearers are Edward Lucero and Rachael Barela.
