It is with deep sadness and so much love that we announce the passing of JUAN TORRES, age 87, on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born October 28, 1938, he lived a long and wonderful life, leaving behind memories that will live on in our hearts forever.

Juan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Merlinda Torres, whom he loved deeply. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Benjamin Torres, and siblings Felix Torres, Ofelia Hernandez, Carmen Garcia, and Manuel Torres.

He is survived by his four children: Anthony Torres and wife Sandra of Ruidoso, Johnny Torres and wife Patty of Garfield, Peter Torres and wife Renee of Las Cruces, and daughter Linda Torres and her life partner Donnie of Arizona.

Juan is also survived by his siblings Rafael Torres of Las Cruces and Adela Amador of Rincon.

He leaves behind five grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Isaac Torres, Anthony Sanchez, Eric Torres, Nicole Castillo, and Elyssa Torres, along with many great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy and happiness.

Juan will be remembered as a hardworking man who lived a long and full life. He worked for many years at the Garfield Co-op Gin, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Juan took great pride in farming and could often be found tending to his tomato, chile, and watermelon garden, which family and friends will always remember him for. His dedication to the land and his commitment to providing for his family were a true reflection of the man he was.

At this time, no services will be held. As per Juan's wishes, he will be cremated, and his and Merlinda's ashes will be scattered at a later date.
