Our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend JUAN CARLOS "HOMIE" LOPEZ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Carlos was born in El Paso, TX., March 1, 1971, and lived in Las Cruces, NM until the age of 53.
Carlos who we all knew as "Homie" was one of a kind. He was a very big and special part of all our lives. He had a beautiful soul filled with kindness, love, and of course cannot forget he liked to joke all the time. Homie was loved not just by all of his family but by so many people and will continue to be. He was the type of person who we could count on no matter the time or situation, he was there. He made a huge impact in all our lives one way or another, big or small. We will always have those beautiful memories with and or of him, to hold on to.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio Lopez, paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his mother Juana Lopez; stepfather, Zenon Marin "Chelelo"; sister, Elvira Lopez; brothers, Greg Lopez jr (flipper) Richard Lopez (Lori), nieces, Adriana Pena (Nate "Bonbon"), Stephanie Lopez (Emilio), Cynthia Lopez (Jeremy); nephews, Junior Pena (Angel), Matthew Hernandez, Gabriel Hernanadez "Flechitas", Dominik Lopez (Diana), Derek Lopez, Joshua Lopez; two great-nephews, Dawnte and Zyriah Alvarez; his favorite aunt, Angie Garcia (Alfredo); former sister-in-law, Juana Garcia; cousins, Alfredoito Garcia Jr, Ester Garcia; one son and 3 daughters; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation for Homie will begin at 9:30 AM Monday, February 24, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E Boutz Road, with The Funeral Service at 10 AM. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S Compress Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Lopez, Greg Lopez Jr, Junior Pena, Matthew Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez, and Dominik Lopez. Honorary bearers are Nate Alvarez, Dawnte Alvarez, Derek Lopez.
