Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, JOSEFINA QUINTANA MELENDEZ, age 75, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 19, 1949, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico to Carmen Dominguez and Alberto Quintana. Josefina was a loving, caring, homemaker and a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church as well as a lifelong resident of Doña Ana.

Those left to mourn her passing include her husband of 53 years, Martin Melendez; four sons, Ramon Melendez (Misti) of Rio Rancho, Martin Melendez Jr. (Britney) of Goodyear, AZ., Manuel Melendez (Maria) of Las Cruces and Felipe Melendez (Vivie) of Farmington; a daughter, Maria Melendez-Silva (Marco) also of Las Cruces; four sisters, Carmela Marquez (Ramon) of San Bernadino, CA., Severa Alvidrez (Jesus) of Doña Ana, Emma Lopez (Alfonso) of Las Cruces and Andrea Garcia (Jose) of Meza, AZ. Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Josefina was preceded in death by her daughter Alicia Melendez; four brothers and her parents.

Visitation for Mrs. Melendez will begin at 9:30 AM Friday, May 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Martin Cordero, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Doña Ana Cemetery where she will be laid in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be her daughter, Maria Melendez-Silva; her four sons, Ramon, Martin, Manuel and Felipe Melendez and grandson, Isaias Melendez.
