Josefina Maese entered eternal rest July 23, 2024, suddenly and peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a long life. Josefina will be dearly missed.

Josefina was born in Mesilla to Luz Alvarez and Maria S. Verdugo. She was a strong, hardworking homemaker and farmer with her life centered around family. Josefina was her family's constant connection for 95 years.

Josefina was preceded in death by her daughter Beatrice who is represented by Chris and Andrew George, husband Valentin Maese and five Alvarez brothers and a sister.

Josefina is survived by her brother Robert Alvarez, 13 children, 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and countless extended family.

A prayer vigil will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Basilica of San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal, Mesilla, N.M. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at San Albino Cemetery.
