It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Jose (Richard) Terrazas on January 21, 2025.

Richard was born May 25, 1970, in Las Cruces, NM to Dolores (Covarrubia) and Jose Terrazas. Richard served for 21 years as a State Trooper with the New Mexico State Police Department. He also served 4 years as protective detail for Governor Susana Martinez. Richard was a one-of-a-kind brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed hunting, adventuring, and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Terrazas and maternal grandparents Ismael and Agueda Perez.

Those left to mourn him include his mother, Dolores Terrazas (Joe); brother Rogelio Terrazas; sister, Graciela Lessman (Mark); Godparents, Willie and Patricia Duran; and numerous nieces; grandnieces, nephews and cousins.

A Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, starting at 3pm with a Funeral Liturgy to follow at 3:30pm, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road. Inurnment and Rite of Committal will conclude at San Albino Cemetery in Mesilla, NM.
