JOSE ANGEL MADRID, lifelong resident of Anthony, New Mexico, entered eternal life on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at La Posada–Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was 83 years old.
Born April 26, 1943, in Anthony, Texas, Jose was the beloved son of Tomasa Morales and Angel Madrid. Raised in a close‑knit community where faith, family, and hard work shaped daily life, Jose carried those values with him throughout his years.
Jose worked as a commercial truck driver, a profession he took great pride in. His work ethic, reliability, and steady presence made him respected among coworkers and friends alike. He was also a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church, grounding his life in faith and gratitude.
One of Jose's greatest passions was baseball. He loved the game deeply—whether watching his favorite teams, talking sports with family, or simply enjoying the rhythm and excitement of a good match-up. Sports brought him joy, connection, and countless cherished moments.
Jose will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, and the quiet strength he carried through life. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community of Anthony that was his home for more than eight decades.
Those left to mourn his passing include his son, Albert Madrid; two daughters, Patty Madrid (Albert Ornelas) and Bonnie Rodriguez (Daniel) all from Anthony; five brothers, Alfredo, Madrid, Ruben Madrid (Pat), Henry Madrid, Antonio Madrid (Blanca) and Robert Madrid (Rachel); two sisters, Anita Martinez and Eleanor Gomez. Other survivors include six grandchildren, 2 ½ great-grandchildren (one on the way) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Andrea Munoz Madrid on June 7, 2021, his beloved son, Joey Madrid on October 11, 2014, and his brother, Arturo Madrid.
Visitation for Jose will begin at 10 AM Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his beloved family.
Serving as casket bearers will be Albert Ornelas, Gilbert Morales, Joel Grajeda, Manny Saldivar, Robert Arellano, Jr., Richard Bejarano, Jr., and Christopher Angel Madrid.
