JOSE PIÑON LUNA, age 92, lifelong resident of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Global Hospice Care Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born June 3, 1931, to Trinidad Piñon and Reyes Luna. Jose served his country honorably in the United States Army, after which he was employed in construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Jose had no children but had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved as if they were his known; three brothers, Luis, Jaime, and Roberto Luna; a sister, Beatrice Nunez, all survive him. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; two brothers, Reyes Francisco, and Daniel Luna; four sisters, Genoveva Gamboa, Trinidad Nevarez, Julia Derk and Enedina Mancha.
Visitation for Mr. Luna will begin at 10 AM Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30AM. The Funeral Liturgy will follow thereafter. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside his brother. Military Honors will be accorded by the United State Army Honor Guard.
Serving as casket bearers will be Martin A., Jacob J., and Horacio Martos, Kenny Luna, Enrique Nuñez, and Kevin Oliver.
