JOSÉ LUIS ARELLANO SR., age 91, of Anthony passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025. He was born June 19, 1933, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maria del Refugio Marquez and Crecencio Arellano. José Luis was a self-employed auto repair man and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Mercedes Bejarano Arellano; his only son, Jose Luis "J.L." Arellano Jr. (Melissa); 4 daughters, Rosa Carrasco (Fernando), Maria Elena Melendez and Susana Quintana (Eristeo) all from Anthony; and Particia Arellano of Las Cruces. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Anthony Community Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be, Jose Luis "J.L." Arellano Jr., Christopher Melendez, Elco Ramos III., Fernando Carrasco IV., Javier Carrasco, Derek, Brandan, and Noel Quintana.
