Jose "Burger" Alvarez, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 51. Born on May 20, 1974, to Stella Alvarez, Jose was known for his strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his work as a mechanic. His hands built and repaired more than engines—they offered help, support, and care to those around him.

Jose is survived by his loving mother, Stella Alvarez; his devoted sisters, Mari Alvarez and Luz Alvarez; his nieces and nephews, Alex (Tania), Mike, Sabrina (Cecilia), Destiny, Andy (Amanda) and Paul Jr (Ashley); and his stepsons Andres Ramirez and Lorenzo Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Eulalia Romero, and his cherished aunt, Josie Reyes, whose memories he carried close to his heart.

A man of integrity and humility, Jose found joy in the simple things—his lowriders, family cookouts, long drives, and the satisfaction of a job well done.

He was the best son, brother, friend, Nino and uncle anyone could ask for. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the love he gave freely will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, located at 300 E. Boutz Road. Visitation will begin at 1:30 P.M. followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 2:30 P.M.

Casket bearers will include Alex Chavez, Mike Mendez, Andy Alvarez, Paul Garcia Jr., Andres Alvarez, and Andres Ramirez.

Jose will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who knew him.
