Dr. Jonathan P. Hill, age 76, passed August 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. From a humble cherry farm in The Dalles, Jon struck out on a magnificent journey and built his dreams into realities. An adventurer, he called communities like Needles, Lakeview, Monterey, and Las Cruces home.

Jon has diligently served those communities throughout his life. As a career educator, Jon advocated for public schools and special education in California, Oregon, and New Mexico as a citizen, teacher, superintendent, school board member, and politician. And until his recent illness, he ran as the Democratic candidate for New Mexico State House of Representatives, District 53. Beyond his career accomplishments, he dedicated himself to swimming, community art programs, the Episcopal church, and his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Hill and Marie Deady. He has left an indelible mark on those he left behind including his wife, Judy; daughter, Kate; sons, Rob (Regan) and Andy (Christina); his brother, Mike (Sandi); and extended family of aunts, cousins, and grandchildren.

Celebration of Life services will be at St. Andrews Episcopal Church on September 14, 2024, at 2 pm MST. The ceremony will be livestreamed via the church's Facebook page. The family requests donations to St. Andrew's Hospitality House in lieu of flowers.
