Obituary

Our Beloved Son, Father, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin, Jon .L. Hernandez, aged 59, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025.

Jon was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to the late Joe Hernandez (Retired Lieutenant with LCPD) and Lorraine Hernandez.

Jon attended grade school to high school in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Then, went on to Job Corp. in Albuquerque, New Mexico and became a Certified Welder. Jon worked as a skilled welder, known for his dedication and craftsmanship. Jon met his late girlfriend at the time, the late Matilda DuBois at Job Corp. Jon then, moved to Gallup, New Mexico in the 80's, with his late girlfriend Matilda DuBois and her family. He then, moved back to Las Cruces, New Mexico and continued to live his life with his mother Lorraine Hernandez. Jon was full of laughter, jokes, pranks, and he was stubborn, yet a positive person, that found great joy, and valued time with family and friends, he enjoyed his music, he loved classic rock and other genres, he enjoyed fishing, he shared many stories of his life experiences and will be remembered for his humor and faith.

He was preceded in death by his late paternal grandparents, Jose R. Hernandez and Guadalupe Hernandez, his late maternal grandparents, Raymond Garcia and Adela Morales Garcia, his father, the late Joe Hernandez (Retired Lieutenant with LCPD).

Jon is survived by his mother, Lorraine .G. Hernandez, 2 children, daughter, Tiffany .M. Hernandez and son Joel .M. Hernandez, 2 grandchildren, Victoria .M. Hernandez and Lillian .R. Hernandez, brothers, Joseph Hernandez and Hector Hernandez, sister, Diane Hernandez, many uncles, many aunts, many cousins, many nephews, and many nieces.

Funeral Services will be held on December 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Baca's Funeral Home located at: 300 E. Boutz Rd. Las Cruces, NM 88005. Following will be the reception.

Jon .L. Hernandez was loved by many, many people from close family members, cousins, relatives, and friends. He will be greatly missed, loved, his smile, his laughter, and the strength he brought to every challenge will always be remembered.
