In loving memory of John D. Schwettmann Andreas, born on March 30, 1946, and passed away on December 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. A courageous patriot, John began his service to his country by originally being drafted by the United States Army before enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Surfbird, and his commitment to duty was exemplified by his receipt of the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze star devices, a testament to the bravery and sacrifice he displayed in the line of duty.

After his military service, John continued to contribute to his community through a distinguished career. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked as a data analyst at White Sands Missile Range, dedicating himself to the defense of his nation. Later, he joined the United States Postal Service, where he held the position of Distribution Clerk. His commitment to excellence extended throughout his career, showcasing his unwavering dedication both to national defense and public service.

John was not only a devoted family man but also a talented artist. In his spare time, he found joy in crafting intricate silver and turquoise jewelry. His creative spirit and skilled hands left a significant impact. Those lucky enough to receive a custom piece of his jewelry cherished it dearly, a testament to his artistry and the love he put into each creation.

Known for his unending generosity, John's kindness and helping spirit endeared him to all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Katharine "Kaki" Schwettmann, and step-brother David Schwettmann, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, his children: John, Amber (James), and Katie (Angus), and his grandchildren: Audrey, Annaliese, James, Stella, Archie, and Rory.

Additionally, John is remembered by his step-children: Melinda (Mark), David, and Leroy, as well as step-grandchildren: Marcos (Amanda), Serenity, and Brenden.

Serving as Casket Bearers will include Leroy Cardona, Angus McLean, Mark Ford, David Soto, Marcos Martinez and Godfrey Barela. Honorary Bearers are Serenity Martinez and Brenden Ford.

A viewing in remembrance of John will be held on Saturday, January 6th, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz, Las Cruces, NM 88005. This will be followed by military honors, a rosary, and a memorial service, all taking place at Baca's. May friends and family find solace in commemorating a life well-lived and bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. May he rest in peace.
