John Daniel Garcia, lovingly known as Papa, was born on November 24, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on October 6, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was 91 years old.

He is preceded in death by his beloved partner, Tressa Garcia, and his parents, Ray and Charlotte Garcia.

Papa is survived by his three daughters, Kim Garcia, Layna Chastain, and Kim Barr as well as eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who adored him.

Throughout his life, John was a proud member of the Teamsters union and spend many years working in the trucking industry, served as a police officer, and was also a proud member of the U.S. Army.

He loved watching the Los Angeles Rams, enjoyed golf, and had a lifelong passion for firearms. Above all, Papa will be remembered as a hard-working, funny, and intelligent man who brought laughter and love to everyone around him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 2pm at Bacas Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road.
