Obituary

JO-ANN MIRANDA MISQUEZ, a cherished resident of Las Cruces, NM, formerly of Santa Clara, CA, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the age of 57. She was born on June 16, 1967, in Brooklyn, NY.
Jo-Ann grew up in Santa Clara, CA, and graduated from high school in 1985. She later attended New Mexico State University, where she earned two Associate Degrees. On March 20, 2019, she married the love of her life, Ismael Misquez. Together, they shared a bond that exemplified unconditional love, always by each other's side, and were the best of partners. Jo-Ann loved Ismael deeply.
In addition to being a devoted wife, Jo-Ann was a loving and dedicated mother to her two children, Vanessa, and Bobby. Those who knew Jo-Ann could always see how much she treasured her children. "I love you to the moon and back," she would often say. Jo-Ann took great pride in being a mother and always gave 110% to whatever role she was in, whether it was as a parent, employee, or friend.  The "110%" was something Jo-Ann and her son Bobby always used to say.
Jo-Ann held various jobs throughout her life and was known for her dependability, work ethic, and commitment. No matter the job, she always gave her best.
Her happiest days were spent surrounded by her family and friends, especially during holidays and gatherings. Jo-Ann was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and loved capturing memories with her camera. If you ever needed a picture from a special event, Jo-Ann was always the one to ask, as she loved taking photos and preserving moments for a lifetime.
She is survived by her parents, Emilia, and Jimmy Tome; brother Edgar Miranda (Ginger); daughter Vanessa Raquel Barajas (Eric); son Bobby Ray Lopez; and grandchildren, Olivia Ullmann, Selahna Ullmann, and a baby girl Barajas on the way. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ismael Misquez, her uncle Samuel Tome and aunt, Carmen Milliken.
Jo-Ann will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Mass in honor of both Jo-Ann and her loving husband, Ismael, will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
