Obituary

Jim D. Luchini passed away at home on July 7, 2023. He was born July 9, 1929 in Derry, NM to Ysidora Otero and Santiago Luchini.

Jim graduated from Hatch Valley Union High School in 1950. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. After his Army service he was accepted into Flight School in Florida but other events brought him back home. He was an Assistant Manager of Karl's Shoe Store in El Paso and was offered a store in Silver City but again fate intervened. He worked at (PSL) Physical Science Laboratory at NMSU and studied at home to become a Certified Electronics Technician. He also worked as an Insurance Agent for Farmers Insurance. He began his career at White Sands Missile Range and retired from the Microwave & Automated Systems Branch as a GS-12. But his true love was farming chile which he greatly enjoyed as well as cotton and alfalfa, a trade passed on by his Father.

He was a loving and caring Father who taught his children many skills and a great work ethic. He was a devout Catholic and loved his church. He will be Greatly missed!

Those left to mourn him include his wife Pauline Luchini, two sons Kenneth Luchini (Lizabeth), and Charles Luchini, daughter Dora Luchini- Lucero (Chris), daughter-in-law Tammie Luchini (Clarence), sister Helen Vigil and grandchildren, Antonio Luchini, Brandon Luchini, Giovanni Luchini-Lucero, Karstan Luchini, Braxton Luchini, Dominic Luchini, Donovan Luchini, Justine Luchini and Devlyn Luchini.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ysidora Otero and Santiago Luchini, son Clarence Luchini, and siblings Ray Luchini, Leo Luchini, Carrie Norero and Virginia Sullivan.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 21, 2023 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Dona Ana. Visitations will begin at 9:00 A.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at St Joseph's Cemetery, 100 N. Espina Street in Las Cruces. Reception will follow afterwards at the American Legion Hall, 1185 E. Madrid Ave. in Las Cruces.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons, Antonio Luchini, Giovanni Luchini-Lucero, Braxton Luchini, Dominic Luchini, Donovan Luchini, Devlyn Luchini with Lenny Luchini and Harvey Lindsey as Honorary Pallbearers.
