Jesus B. Vega Jr. "Junior", 89, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on February 13, 2026, following a brief illness.

Jesus was born on January 17, 1937, in Rodey, New Mexico, to Jesus Aguilar Vega and Filomena Bustamante. He was raised in Derry, New Mexico, and graduated from Hatch Valley High School in 1956. Shortly thereafter, he proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.

After returning from military service, Jesus married Arsenia Gallegos. The couple moved to Southern California, where they raised their family. Jesus dedicated 34 years of service to the United States Post Office before retiring.

He often spoke fondly of returning to his beloved New Mexico, and after retirement, he made that dream a reality. He was blessed to live independently until his passing. Jesus enjoyed reading books about the western frontier and World War II, watching sports, and spending time enjoying classic western movies.

An accomplished bowler, Jesus achieved many perfect games and participated in numerous leagues, including one with the Post Office. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Las Cruces Roadrunner Antique Car Club. He took great pride in his 1937 Chevy Roadster, which he showcased at various car shows, earning multiple trophies.

Jesus was preceded in death by his second wife, Irma Castillo, his parents Jesus and Filomena and by his siblings Remijio, Leo, Venancio, Aurora Cordova, and Angie Gomez. He is survived by his first wife of 25 years, Arsenia; his daughters, Sally, Yvonne, and Debbie; and his brothers, Roger and Eloy.

A prayer vigil will be held on Friday April 10, 2026 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. and the Funeral Liturgy will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
