Janice Joy Wellmann, 85, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away November 24,2024, at The Aristocrat Assisted Living Center, in Las Cruces.
Janice was born on December 3, 1938 in Minneapolis Minnesota to Edward Pekula and Ruby Marcum. Janice attended Natrona High School in Casper Wyoming. After school Janice met Paul Wellmann while working at a local restaurant. This meeting led to their marriage in 1957. From this marriage three loving children were added to complete their family. Throughout their life together Janice worked as a bookkeeper. Music was a big part of her life. You could always find she and Paul on the dance floor, or even dancing in the kitchen while preparing family dinners. Janice was an avid animal lover, and thoroughly enjoyed the company of her cats and dogs, and "grand puppies" as she got older. After retirement, She and Paul spent a lot of their time traveling. Some of her happiest memories were spending time with her grandchildren. As life progressed, she became less active and transitioned to hobbies like reading and crossword puzzles. Throughout her life, love of music and family resonated loudly.
Janice is survived by one son, Michael (Katie) Wellmann of Thayne, WY; two daughters Laurie Karsten of Cedar Falls, IA and Sheri (Bill) Shattuck of Las Cruces, NM; three sisters Shirlee Enter of Mankato, MN, Nancy Carrillo of Palm Springs, CA, Kitty Hart, Bellevue, NE; brother David Rusk, Wakefield, NE; five grandchildren, Natalie Lawrence, Jillian Mackie, Kristen (Mike) Landau, Steven (Lindsay) Joyce, Kali (Jared) Chappelear; seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brett) Bratcher, Dylan Ereksen, Rex and Ridge Landau, Aurelia Joyce, Jack and Edward Chappelear; three great-great grandchildren Eden, Everest and Rennick Bratcher.
