JANE MARY ONSTAD LAMB, was born on November 8, 1940, in Oaks, ND and passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, at the age of 82. The daughter of an Episcopal priest , she lived in North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, and California while growing up.

She attended St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco and would soon move to New Haven, CT where she was a head nurse in the neonatal ICU at Yale Medical Center. Later she moved to Denver, CO to attend Loretta Heights College where she would meet her husband, Jerry Lamb. After they were married, they moved to Oregon. Jane was proud to have been one of the first pediatric nurse practitioners in the state. In Eugene, she taught nursing and loved it so much she wrote and published a nursing textbook that was used for many years.

Jane loved the written word and could often be found reading or writing short stories and poems. She loved classical music and adored going to the theater. A world traveler, she enjoyed exploring new places and visited five continents over the course of her journeys. She loved a road trip or a weekend at a cabin.

Jane was a wonderful host, something she did often as the wife of an Episcopal Bishop. She told great stories and could make anyone laugh with her keen sense of humor and quick wit.

A kindhearted person, she had empathy for both people and animals and was never without a trusted canine companion.

After her husband's retirement they moved to Las Cruces, NM where she loved the Organ Mountains and beautiful sunsets. Jane and Jerry also spent many late summers at St. Francis Chapel at Fallen Leaf Lake, CA and enjoyed the community there.

Jane is survived by her husband, The Rt. Rev. Jerry A. Lamb, daughter Kate (Kristin Ranta), her sister Anne Sondgroth, beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Services are scheduled at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, NM on July 7, 2023, and at Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento this fall.
