Jacob Johnson Portillo, age 59, lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Saturday, October 21, 2023.  He was born February 14, 1964, in Las Cruces to Jesus Portillo and Lucy Johnson Portillo.  Mr. Portillo is a 1982 Mayfield High School graduate.

Survivors include his loving wife, Matilde Portillo of the family home; his father Jesus Portillo, one daughter, Risher De La Cruz and husband, Ivan.  His brother, Robert Portillo and wife, Leesha; three sisters, Joann Garcia and husband Thomas Sr., Susan Barker, Julie Sanchez, and husband Jude all of Las Cruces.  Other survivors include three grandchildren: Avery, Evan, and Teigen De La Cruz.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Johnson Portillo.

Services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Apostolic Tabernacle Church 3001 Missouri Ave Las Cruces, NM with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Jimmy Arellano will be officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, where he will be laid to rest.

Serving as Casket Bearers will be Ivan De La Cruz, Rudy Garcia, Miguel Garcia, Emiliano Garcia, Robert Portillo, Joseph Gonzales, and Jess Jacob Portillo.
