Our father's love reflected his faith, and his faith was expressed in every loving embrace, in each kind word of wisdom, and in every thoughtful consejo. He sacrificed generously, he asked little for himself but proudly gave so much back to his family and friends.

Isidro (Chilo) Francisco Telles Acosta was a humble and caring man led by his faith.  He walked with strength, integrity, conviction, and loved his family and others unconditionally. On the 10th day of August 2023, barely fifty-nine (59) days after his soulmate passed away, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother, Tio, and friend; Isidro was finally reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Petra Rosas Acosta of 70+ years.  He was lovingly and affectionately encircled by his children, grandchildren, sons-in-law, and daughters-in-law in his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Isidro Francisco Telles Acosta was born in Bent, New Mexico on June 15, 1935, to Toribio and Librada Telles Acosta. As a young boy, Isidro grew up in the rugged mountains of Bent, New Mexico below the Mescalero Reservation and above the Village of Tularosa. Harvesting apples and timber, fishing mountain streams, riding horses through the high meadow grass in the mountain valleys, and at times jumping in and out of railroad cars with his friends and cousins for fun.

Through his faith, Isidro never was afraid of anything, therefore, as a young man, he faithfully prayed about everything.  Hearing the call of the Lord, and under the guidance of the Franciscan Priests, Isidro prepared his heart and soul for the priesthood; however, the best love is unexpected love, and his heart recognized his soulmate, Petra Rosas.  His heart could not be denied.  Isidro may never have had a congregation call him Father; however, the Lord blessed him with the joys of fatherhood and like Abraham, stars that could fill a night sky.

Isidro met his soulmate Petra Rosas in middle school. Their souls were meant to be together, and their passionate love never dwindled for 70+ years. He loved her selflessly and wholeheartedly. He always strived to make her feel special. She was his "Baby" and his entire universe. Isidro faithfully stood by Petra's side until her mission on Earth was completed. With a kiss and loving embrace, he whispered to her, through heartache and tears to wait for him.

Isidro served his country in the United States Navy, spending most of his military service on the USS ESSEX, a naval aircraft carrier that patrolled the western Pacific. After the Navy, Isidro later worked at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) as a base Security Guard with the highest top-secret clearance. At night he pursued his education in electrical and mechanical systems to help his growing family. Isidro later accepted a promotion and new position at White Sands Missile Range as an Environmental Control Technician testing a wide variety of air-defense missile systems. Which entailed the testing of the Patriot Missile and trips to Cape Canaveral, FL.  He retired after over 25 years of service from White Sands Missile Range and settled in the hacienda he built for his love, Petra, in Brazito, New Mexico.  From his young years and throughout his life he loved to grow beautiful flowers for his wife and was a meticulous and knowledgeable gardener.  His love of the land, experience, and abundant knowledge of caring for plants and trees was passed on to his children and grandchildren, daily.

Isidro was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church, and he practiced his faith through example. He was a provider for those he loved, a protector of the innocent and good, a leader who followed God's will, a teacher of prayer and worship, a helper to those in need, an encourager of life, and a friend to all.  He was adamant about taking his children to 6:30 Mass every Sunday, always sitting them in the front row. It was always understood that if anyone needed prayers, they would talk to him, and he would pray during the night and early mornings devoutly.  He himself would periodically make and take his children, or grandchildren on the long journey to the top of Cristo Ray Mountain to pray or give devotion.

A loving husband and father, Isidro supported and raised nine (9) highly spirited children, four (4) girls, and five (5) boys. Proverbs 20:6-7 says, "For a righteous person who goeth in his honesty, or in his integrity, shall leave blessed sons and daughters after him." We are truly grateful and blessed for having a loving and dedicated father who made his children feel special and important but most of all, no one can ever love you like your father.

Survivors include his four (4) daughters, Priscilla Rosas Acosta, Las Vegas, NV; Rachel Marie and David Carrizales, San Antonio, TX; Estella Christina and William Strawn, West Columbia, TX; Antoinette Jacqueline and Noble Broussard Jr., Lynwood, CA; his five (5) sons, Gilberto Isidro and Victoria Acosta, Chaparral, NM; Javier Ricardo and Shellene Acosta, Calhoun, MO; Jaime Cesar and Erika Acosta, El Paso, TX; Isidro Gabriel and Corina Acosta, Las Cruces, NM.; Toby and Theresa Acosta, Mesilla Park, NM; one (1) brother, Felix Acosta (Lucy); two (2) sisters, Susie Carro (David, deceased), Emma Acosta Fierro (Arturo, deceased).

Isidro was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Petra Rosas Acosta; his four (4) grandchildren, Abigail (June Bug) Rose Berlanga, Sean McLaughlin, Avery Saenz, and Aria Saenz; his parents, Toribio and Librada Telles Acosta, and one (1) sister, Margarita Hernandez,

A Visitation for Isidro Francisco Telles Acosta will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 5pm at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road.  The Prayer Vigil will begin 6:00 PM. Family and friends will join to celebrate the Funeral Mass on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 9:00 am at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 South Espina Street. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, located at 760 South Compress Road, Las Cruces, NM 88001, where he will be laid to rest.
