ISABEL CORTEZ BARAJAS went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the age of 91.  She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Isabel was born April 5, 1934, in El Bosque, NM to Elena Saenz and Juan Cortez.  She was employed at White Sands Missile Range as a Supply Technician until her retirement. Isabel was a devout member of the Alter Society at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Beatrice Duarte of Amarillo, TX, and Alicia Chistina Barajas of Anthony; three brothers, Daniel, and Ramon Cortez both of Anthony, and Alfredo Cortez of Palmdale, CA., her sister, Eustolia Ortega also of Anthony. Other survivors include her nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Reymundo Barajas on October 21, 1996; a daughter, Cecilia Barajas Harper on December 19, 1999; two brothers, Lorenzo and Felipe Cortez and a sister, Molly Balderrama.

Visitation for Ms. Barajas will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM.  The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be Nick D'Agostino, Christopher Bustos, Tony Guillen, Juan Balderrama, Tomas Balderrama, and Ramon Cortez. Honorary bearers will be Raymundo Minjarez and Brittney Harper.
