On July 12, 2023 Irene Renteria Herrera entered eternal life at the age of 88. She was born on October 20, 1934 in Hachita, NM to Anita Valles and Ambrosio Renteria.

Those left to mourn Irene include her children. Three daughters Patricia Herrera, Terry Baca (Raymond), and Jennifer Herrera. Three sons Reymond Herrera (Stella), Alfred Herrera and Dino Herrera (Sylvia). She also leaves two sisters Linda Bencomo and Lupe Cardenas. Three brothers Jesse Renteria, Carlos Renteria and Gilbert Renteria.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anita and Ambrosio, her beloved husband Hilario A. Herrera, sons Edward Herrera and Michael Herrera and her siblings Mona Molina, Julian Renteria, Manuel Renteria and Frank Valles. Irene is blessed with 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nephews and nieces. Pallbearers are Ray Baca Jr., Julian Baca, Chris Contreras, Jonathan Terrazas, Jesse Baldonado, Gilbert Renteria.

A prayer vigil will be held on Monday July 31, 2023 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary is scheduled to begin at 11:00 A.M. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Following the Mass cremation will take place and private inurnment will be at a later date.
