Our beloved preacher, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, HUMBERTO "BETO" CONTRERAS, age 80 of Las Cruces passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. "Beto" as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born June 20, 1943, in Las Virginias, Coahuila, Mexico to Maria de Refugio Hinojosa and Concepcion Contreras. Mr. Contreras retired from farming and ranching after numerous years of service.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Lidia Hernandez Contreras; three sons, Joel Contreras (Alma) of Las Cruces, Noel Contreras (Valerie) of Fairacres and Roberto Contreras (Stacey) of Las Cruces; a daughter, Gabby Apodaca (Adrian) also of Las Cruces; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hernandez of Fairacres and three sisters. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as numerous niece and nephews. Mr. Contreras was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ernesto Hernandez.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Service at 11 AM with Pastor Gabriel Solis Officiating. The Graveside Service will be held at 9 AM Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Serving as casket bearers will be Christian, Nick, and Nate Apodaca, Angel, Austin, Angel, and Zaydin, and Adriana Contreras.
