With deep love and profound sadness, we share the passing of Hilda Lerma, 62, on May 20, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family, she left this world peacefully, just as she lived — with strength and grace.
Hilda was born on December 21, 1962, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Hilda was a radiant spirit — sharp, generous, and full of life. Her quick wit, beautiful voice, and warm heart brought joy to everyone blessed to know her. In her younger years, she rode her Harley-Davidson with confidence and flair, embodying freedom and fearless joy.
Hilda dedicated 17 years to Sara Lee Hosiery Co., later serving as a CNA at Casa de Oro and a Med Tech at Calibre Nursing Home. In every role, she was known for her compassion, humor, and unwavering care for others.
She found joy in cheering on her granddaughters, cooking her famous menudo for family gatherings, and making everyone laugh with her playful sense of humor. A generous and spirited soul, Hilda loved concerts, animals, and visiting family in San Diego. She embraced life fully — with warmth, heart, and joy that was truly contagious.
In her later years, she found renewed faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and became a devoted member of La Mesa Community Church, where her faith brought her peace and purpose.
Hilda is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Contreras II; her children, Monique Contreras (Carlos Peraza) and Pedro Contreras III (Veronica Frausto); and her cherished grandchildren, Angelica Cabañas, Dianeli Cabañas, Eliana Peraza, Monalisa Peraza, and Winter Frausto.
She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Garibay (Robert), Alma Griffith (Jeff), Rose Chavez (Greg), and Leticia Phetteplace (George); as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Hilda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Martin J. Lerma and Trinidad F. Lerma.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, generosity, and grace. Hilda's presence lit up every room, and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
