Hermelinda Silva, 84, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Hermelinda Silva was born in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Begnina and Amado Polanco. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Celso,of 65 years, as well as actively involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passions were family, sewing, and baking.

Hermelinda worked many years as a cashier at Safeway and Furr's grocery stores.

Hermelinda is survived by her husband, Celso Silva; children, Debbie Chavez of Carlsbad, CA, Cynthia Acosta of Corpus Cristi, TX, Andrew Silva of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Amado Polanco Jr., and Rudy Polanco.

A prayer vigil for Hermelinda will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 South Espina Street. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2pm with burial at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
