HECTOR PORRAS FRANCO, age 98, of Vado, New Mexico, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. Born March 17, 1927, in Berino, New Mexico, to Guadalupe Porras and Ramon Franco, Hector lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, demonstrating honor and courage during his military years. After his service, Hector returned to the Mesilla Valley, where he became a respected and well-known farmer, cultivating not only the land but also a legacy of hard work and integrity.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Hector was a pillar of strength and compassion within his family. He was also a faithful member of the Catholic Church, finding solace and purpose in his spiritual life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Socorro A. Franco; two sons, Hector A. Franco and wife Barbara, and Ricky Franco and wife Viola, all of Vado; and his daughter, Patricia McIlrath of Philadelphia, PA. His legacy continues through ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and wisdom he shared throughout his life. Hector was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and a sister.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at San Jose Catholic Church, 353 E. Josephine Street in La Mesa. A Prayer Vigil will follow at 10:30 AM, with the Funeral Mass celebrated immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Road, El Paso, TX 79906. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons and other cherished family members.

Hector's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
